Specifications
Fire protection paint DEFENS MS – fire-resistant coating based on solvent. When exposed to high temperatures – it expands, forming a monolithic carbon layer of foamed coke, which has high thermal insulation properties and protects the material from fire and heating. It is used to increase the fire resistance of steel structures in industrial, administrative, and civil construction up to 120 minutes.
Purpose and scope of application
Intumescent fire protection agent (reactive paint) based on solvent for steel structures.
Designed to increase the fire resistance of metal structures (load-bearing beams) up to R120.
Used in public, commercial, industrial, civil, energy, nuclear power plants, and other facilities.
Advantages and features of the material
- Intumescent reaction — when heated, it forms a foamed layer that insulates the structure.
- Solvent-based material, homogeneous thick mass of white color with a characteristic smell.
- The possibility of applying a protective paint layer on top for decoration or additional protection.
Application recommendations
Surfaces must be cleaned, degreased, free of dust, rust, and remnants of old coatings.
Before applying all components (primer, base layer, protective layer), materials should be agreed upon with the manufacturer, especially for coatings not included in the recommended list.
After the fire protection layer has dried, it is possible to apply a decorative paint coating according to the instructions and technology.
Requirements for properties and substrate preparation
Preparation of metal surfaces according to ISO 8501-1 / DSTU ISO 8501-1:2015 standards — cleaning to a degree not lower than Sa2 / St2.
The surface must be smooth, free of defects, burrs, flux residues, irregularities, fats, salts that may interfere with adhesion.
If there is a primer or paint coating — its condition must be satisfactory (without blisters, peeling, cracks). If the coating is not recommended — expertise or removal is necessary.
Requirements for application conditions
Air temperature: +5 °C to +40 °C during application.
Relative humidity: no more than 80%.
Absence of atmospheric precipitation during application, avoiding direct streams of moisture or condensation.
Method of application
Applied with a brush, roller, or spraying (pneumatic/airless).
The direction of layer application is transverse or at an angle to the previous layer for better coverage.
Recommended consumption of the base paint or decorative material layer: 200-250 g/m², unless otherwise specified.
