DEFENS EF-131 W(2K) Two-component epoxy composition
A two-component vapor-permeable epoxy composition, water-based, is a mixture of water-based epoxy resins, specially designed for the installation of thin-layer industrial polymer floor coatings. After drying, it forms a smooth and non-slip surface with high mechanical strength and chemical resistance. It can be used for floors and walls, as well as applied on damp substrates in conditions of high humidity.
Specifications
Used as the primary layer of seamless polymer coatings when installing a polymer coating. For application on concrete and other mineral substrates that are not subject to significant deformations and vibrational loads.
The coating is characterized by high strength and hardness. The fully cured coating has high resistance to water and aggressive environments of low and medium concentrations. High hygiene and fire safety indicators. Resistance to atmospheric influences. Very high resistance to abrasive wear and the effects of chemicals such as oils, petroleum products, and salts.
The composition is used for flooring in production facilities of the food industry, including those with wet technological processes, in agricultural premises (warehouses, greenhouses, conservatories, animal and poultry housing), offices, medical and children’s institutions, trade and public catering enterprises, hotels, exhibition halls, entertainment establishments, auto services, and parking lots.
Application Recommendations
Requirements for the properties and preparation of the concrete substrate
The properties of the concrete substrate and methods for preparing its surface must comply with current building and technical standards. The substrate must be strong, homogeneous, clean, dry, free from oils, fats, brittle areas, residues of old peeling coatings, and other contaminants that hinder adhesion, and should be primed with water-based primers Defens EP-02, Defens EP-04.
Defens EF-131W should be applied no later than one day after the primer layer has been applied. The main requirements for the concrete substrate: compressive strength – at least 20 N/mm², tensile strength – at least 1.5 N/mm². The concrete substrate should be treated using abrasive tools, shot blasting, milling, or grinding equipment. For concrete floors with a reinforced top layer, only shot blasting treatment is allowed. Carefully remove the dust generated during processing using an industrial vacuum cleaner. Consumption is 0.2-0.4 kg per m².
Requirements for application conditions
The temperature of the primer components, the surface of the substrate, and the surrounding air in the work area: from +10°C to +25°C.
Attention! The temperature of the substrate surface must be at least 3°C above the measured dew point both during the application of the primer and throughout the entire time required for complete polymerization/drying. Relative humidity of the air: no more than 70%.
Method of application
Pour the entire volume of components 1 and 2 into a mixing container of appropriate volume and mix thoroughly to a homogeneous state for 2-3 minutes. For mixing components, use a low-speed (300-400 rpm) electric mixer.
DO NOT MIX COMPONENTS BY HAND!
Attention! Depending on the reactivity of the components, the curing process of the epoxy composition is accompanied by the release of a certain amount of heat. The “self-heating” of the mixture of epoxy composition components in the mixing container can provoke its premature curing. Therefore, it is strongly recommended not to leave the prepared mixture of epoxy composition components directly in the mixing container for an extended period.
Methods of application: pouring and leveling with a notched trowel, until the required thickness is achieved. To ensure high surface quality and guaranteed removal of air bubbles from the coating, it is necessary to roll the freshly applied coating with a spiked roller. Rolling shoShould be done in different directions, slowly, until all bubbles are completely removed. Within 2 minutes and finish before the viscosity of the applied coating increases. When rolling, do not remove the roller from the material. Attention! Work should be carried out at a temperature of no less than +150 °C. The material temperature should be between +(15-250 °C).
Packaging and storage
The composition is supplied in airtight metal containers. The set consists of two components (A, B), with a total weight of 10 kg; 20 kg. Store the composition in a tightly closed container, protecting it from moisture and direct sunlight, as far away from heat sources as possible, at a temperature from -10 to +30°C without moisture condensation. The warranty storage period is 6 months from the date of manufacture without violating storage conditions.
Cleaning tools
Working tools and equipment should be rinsed with soapy water immediately after use. Hardened mixture can only be removed mechanically.
Safety measures
Persons working with the epoxy composition must be provided with personal protective equipment. All work must be carried out in rooms equipped with supply and exhaust ventilation. In case of material contact with skin or eyes, rinse thoroughly with water and seek medical attention if necessary. After complete drying and polymerization, the poured floor is completely safe and allowed for use in public, residential, and industrial premises, including food production, catering enterprises, pharmaceutical industry, agriculture, and in children’s and medical institutions.
When carrying out work, use personal protective equipment, avoid contact with eyes, respiratory tract, and skin. Keep away from fire.
