DEFENS EF-131 W(2K) Finishing vapor-permeable epoxy composition for floors, walls, and ceilings
Specifications
Purpose and Scope of Application
Used as a base layer for seamless polymer coatings applied to concrete and other mineral substrates.
The coating is characterized by high strength and hardness. The fully cured coating has high resistance to water and aggressive environments of low and medium concentrations. High hygiene and fire safety indicators. Resistance to atmospheric influences.
The composition is used for flooring in bomb shelters, production facilities of the food industry, including those with wet technological processes, in agricultural premises (warehouses, greenhouses, nurseries, animal and poultry housing), offices, medical and children’s institutions, trade and public catering enterprises, hotels, exhibition halls, entertainment establishments, auto services, and parking lots.
Application Recommendations
Requirements for the properties and preparation of the concrete substrate
The substrate must be strong, homogeneous, clean, dry, free from oils, fats, fragile areas, residues of old peeling coatings, and other contaminants that hinder adhesion, and should be primed with water-based primer Defens PE-02, Defens PE-04, or the same composition diluted with 30 percent water.
Defens EF-131W should be applied no later than one day after the primer layer has been applied.
Consumption 0.2-0.4 kg per m2
Requirements for application conditions
Temperature of the primer components, surface of the substrate, and ambient air in the work area: from +10°C to +25°C
Attention! The temperature of the substrate surface must be at least 3°C above the measured dew point both during the application of the primer and throughout the time required for complete polymerization/drying. Relative humidity of the air: no more than 70%. During application and for 8 hours after application, ensure air exchange in the room!
Method of Application
Pour the entire volume of components 1 and 2 into a mixing container of appropriate volume and mix thoroughly to a homogeneous state for 2-3 minutes. Use a low-speed (300-400 rpm) electric mixer for mixing the components.
DO NOT MIX COMPONENTS BY HAND!
Attention! Depending on the reactivity of the components, the curing process of the epoxy composition is accompanied by the release of a certain amount of heat. The “self-heating” of the mixture of epoxy composition components in the mixing container may provoke premature curing. Therefore, it is strongly recommended not to leave the prepared mixture of epoxy composition components directly in the mixing container for an extended period.
Application methods: pouring and leveling with a roller until the required thickness is achieved. When rolling, do not lift the roller from the material. Attention! Work should be carried out at a temperature of no less than +15°C. The temperature of the material should be within +(15-25°C).
Dilution with water is allowed up to 8%!
Packaging and Storage
The composition is supplied in airtight polymer containers. The kit consists of two components (A, B), total weight — 10 kg; 20 kg. Store the composition in a tightly closed container, protecting it from moisture and direct sunlight, as far away from heat sources as possible, at a temperature from -10 to +30°C without moisture condensation. The warranty shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture without violating storage conditions.
Cleaning of Tools
Working tools and equipment should be rinsed with soapy water immediately after use. The cured mixture canonly be removed mechanically. Safety measures
Individuals working with epoxy compounds must be provided with personal protective equipment. All work should be conducted in rooms equipped with supply and exhaust ventilation. In case of material contact with skin or eyes, rinse thoroughly with water and seek medical attention if necessary. After complete drying and polymerization, the poured floor is completely safe and permitted for use in public, residential, and industrial premises, including food production facilities, catering establishments, the pharmaceutical industry, agriculture, and in children’s and medical institutions.
When performing work, use personal protective equipment, avoid contact with eyes, respiratory tract, and skin. Keep away from fire.
