DEFENS EP-03 (2K) Epoxy Primer
Two-component epoxy primer containing anti-corrosion pigment and cured with a polyamide hardener. Epoxy resins and polyamide hardener provide high mechanical properties of the formed coating and a long service life.
Specifications
High-performance anti-corrosion epoxy primer is used in coating systems to protect metal structures, tanks, bridges, pipelines, machinery, equipment, and railway, marine, and river transport from corrosion.
It can be applied as a primer layer in protective coating systems for objects operating in aquatic, acidic, and alkaline environments, as well as for protecting storage facilities for light and dark petroleum products due to the high inertness of the fillers used. The primer is capable of withstanding significant cyclic temperature fluctuations.
It serves as a primer in anti-corrosion protection systems according to ISO 12944-5:2018.
It is intended for priming metal with a long service life. It has increased adhesion to metal surfaces.
It can be applied by air and airless spraying, as well as by roller and brush.
Recommended for initial and repair painting with a long service life of rolling stock, road transport, agricultural machinery, painting bridges, steel and reinforced concrete structures, tanks, equipment in the chemical and petrochemical industries, port and waterfront facilities, marine and river vessels.
Base Requirements
The metal surface must be dry, cleaned of rust, debris, dust, grease, and other contaminants that may act as separators. If necessary, treat the base by sandblasting or shot blasting to a degree of Sa 2-2.5 (ISO 8501-1:2007). After cleaning, the steel or galvanized surface must be dusted and degreased.
Application
Before application, after mixing the components, the primer should be thoroughly mixed for at least 5 minutes until a homogeneous consistency appears. Apply to the prepared base by air or airless spraying, brush, or roller. To achieve the required working viscosity of the material, the mixture solvent Defens may be added. The surface to be painted must be dry and have a temperature at least 3 °C above the dew point. The recommended number of layers is 1-2. Control of work performance should be conducted according to the standard ISO 12944-7:2017.
During work, it is necessary to mix the mixture every 30-45 minutes to avoid material delamination.
Packaging and Storage
The material is stored in tightly closed containers, protecting it from moisture and direct sunlight, away from heat sources, at a temperature from 0 to +30°C. The warranty storage period is 12 months from the date of manufacture without violating storage conditions. Minor delamination is permissible during prolonged storage, which does not affect the quality of the material.
Tool Cleaning
Working tools and equipment should be rinsed with solvent R-4 immediately after use.
Safety Measures
This product is intended for professional use only in industrial facilities according to the recommendations provided here, as well as safety instructions provided to customers along with the containers containing the paint. All work, including the application and use of the product, must comply with health, safety, and environmental protection requirements, all regional standards, and instructions.
When conducting painting work, use personal protective equipment, avoid contact with eyes, respiratory tract, and skin. Keep away from fire.
