DEFENS AK.UR-12 (2K) Acrylic – Urethane Enamel
Two-component high-gloss UV and weather-resistant acrylic-urethane enamel based on aliphatic polyisocyanate. Provides high decorative properties of the formed coating and a long service life.
Specifications
Enamel for the protection and high-quality finishing of products made of metal, concrete, wood, and galvanized surfaces that operate in harsh climatic conditions. It is used as a high-quality finishing coat on epoxy, zinc-silicate, polyurethane, and acrylic primers, which improves the appearance and enhances the protective properties of coatings as a whole. It can be applied as a finishing layer in anti-corrosion protection systems according to ISO 12944-5:2018.
It can be applied by air and airless spraying, as well as with a roller and brush. Due to the low toxicity of the solvents contained in it, the enamel is convenient to apply. It can be used as a standalone coating on galvanized surfaces and as a finishing layer in pre-primed anti-corrosion protection systems for steel surfaces subjected to mechanical and chemical influences, as well as atmospheric effects in humid climates and industrial environments.
Recommended as a finishing coating with a long service life for:
– rolling stock,
– automotive transport,
– agricultural machinery,
– painting bridges, steel and reinforced concrete structures,
– tanks, equipment for the chemical and petrochemical industries,
– port and waterfront structures, marine and river vessels, containers, etc.
Coloring in any color at the request of the customer according to the RAL scale is possible.
It can be produced in a modification with aluminum filler.
Requirements for the substrate
The metal surface must be dry, cleaned of rust, debris, dust, grease, and other contaminants that may act as separators, and pre-primed with epoxy, polyurethane, polyester, or zinc-silicate primers. The galvanized surface must be dusted and degreased.
Previously painted surfaces suitable for repainting. Remove contaminants (e.g., grease and salts) that interfere. Surfaces must be dry and clean. Old surfaces with paint that has exceeded the maximum time for applying the next layer must be sanded to roughness. Damaged areas of the surface must be treated according to the substrate preparation and maintenance instructions. The location and timing of the surface preparation for painting must be chosen so that the treated surface remains dry and clean until the next stage of painting the product begins.
Application
Before application, after mixing the components, the enamel should be thoroughly mixed for at least 5 minutes until a homogeneous consistency appears. Apply to the prepared substrate by air and airless spraying, with a brush, or roller. To achieve the required working viscosity of the material, the Defens mixture solvent may be added. When working with primer-enamels in low-temperature conditions, it is recommended to use easily volatile solvents (Ethyl acetate). The surface to be painted must be dry and have a temperature at least 3 °C above the dew point. The recommended number of layers is 1-2. Control of work execution should be carried out in accordance with the ISO 12944-7:2017 standard. The level of gloss and the final appearance of the coating depend on the method of application. Avoid, if possible, different painting methods.
Packaging and storage
The paint is stored in tightly closed containers, protecting it from moisture and direct sunlight, away from heat sources, at a temperature from 0 to +30°C. The warranty storage period is 12 months from the date of manufacture without violating storage conditions. Minor delamination is allowed during prolonged storage, which does not affect the quality.ality.ality.ality.on the quality of the material.
Cleaning the tool
Working tools and equipment are rinsed with solvent R-4 immediately after use.
Safety measures
This product is intended for professional use only in industrial facilities in accordance with the recommendations provided here, as well as the safety instructions provided to customers along with the containers containing the paint. All work, including the application and use of the product, must comply with health, safety, environmental protection requirements, and all regional standards and instructions.
When carrying out painting work, use personal protective equipment, avoid contact with eyes, respiratory tract, and skin. Keep away from fire.
