DEFENS PE-03 (2K) Epoxy Compound
Two-component epoxy compound with increased dry residue with solvents for priming and leveling concrete and other mineral substrates.
Specifications
The compound is intended for impregnation, filling, and priming of concrete and other mineral substrates for the purposes of dust suppression, strengthening, waterproofing, increasing resistance to the effects of oils, gasoline, aggressive chemical environments, and enhancing the adhesion of subsequent coatings to the substrate. It is used as a primer intermediate mixture for concrete when arranging thin-layer, monolithic, highly filled polyurethane, polycarbamide, and epoxy coatings in industrial, commercial, residential, and public buildings and structures, at transport infrastructure facilities, warehouses, terminals, parking lots, when arranging insulation cladding for collectors, tanks, artificial reservoirs, etc.
Advantages and features of the material
Application on a wet surface is allowed;
Can be used as a finish uncolored standalone coating or with quartz or other colored filler.
The material can be used as a standalone or intermediate coating. The Defens PE-03 mixture with dry filler is an effective means for filling and repairing concrete and cement bases.
When additionally diluted, the compound deeply penetrates the substrate and has high adhesion to various surfaces;
Waterproof, retains negative hydrostatic pressure;
After complete polymerization, it has no harmful impact on the environment;
When used as a filling or finishing mixture, it shrinks almost not at all;
Provides high hardness, wear resistance of mineral and concrete bases;
Convenient to work with and a safe material for professional use.
Recommendations for use
Requirements for the properties and preparation of the concrete substrate
The properties of the concrete substrate and methods for preparing its surface must comply with current construction and technical standards. The substrate must be strong, homogeneous, clean, dry, free from oils, fats, fragile areas, remnants of old peeling coatings, and other contaminants that hinder adhesion. The main requirements for the concrete substrate: compressive strength – not less than 20 N/mm2, tensile strength – not less than 1.5 N/mm2. The residual moisture of the substrate must not exceed 4% by weight. Treat the concrete substrate using abrasive tools, shot blasting, milling, or grinding equipment. For concrete floors with a hardened top layer, only shot blasting treatment is allowed. Carefully remove the dust generated during processing using an industrial vacuum cleaner.
Requirements for application conditions
The temperature of the compound components, the surface of the substrate, and the surrounding air in the work area: from +5°C to +25°C
Attention! The temperature of the substrate surface must be at least 3°C higher than the measured dew point both during the application of the primer and throughout the entire time required for complete polymerization/drying of the primer layer. Relative humidity of the air: no more than 70%
Method of application
Pour the entire volume of components 1 and 2 into a mixing container of appropriate volume and mix thoroughly to a homogeneous state for 2-3 minutes. For mixing the components, use a low-speed (300-400 rpm) electric mixer. To ensure adhesion of the primer layer to the subsequent coating, sprinkle the uncured surface with dry quartz sand of fraction (0.1-0.3) mm or (0.4-0.8) mm
DO NOT MIX COMPONENTS BY HAND!
Attention! Depending on the reactivity of the components, the curing process of the epoxy compound is accompanied by the release of some heat.The “self-heating” of the mixture of components of the epoxy composition in the mixing container can provoke to prevent its premature hardening. Therefore, it is categorically not recommended to leave the prepared mixture of epoxy composition components directly in the mixing container for an extended period.
Application methods: brush, roller, spatula.
Packaging and storage
The composition is supplied in airtight metal containers. The set consists of two components (A, B), with a total weight of 10 kg; 20 kg. Store the primer in a tightly closed container, protecting it from moisture and direct sunlight, as far away from heat sources as possible, at a temperature of +5 to +30°C, without condensation formation. The shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture without violating storage conditions.
Cleaning of tools
Working tools and equipment should be rinsed with solvent R-5, R-646 immediately after use. The hardened mixture can only be removed mechanically.
Safety measures
It is a flammable material. Individuals working with the epoxy compound must be provided with personal protective equipment. All work should be carried out in rooms equipped with supply and exhaust ventilation. In case of contact with skin or eyes, rinse thoroughly with water and seek medical attention if necessary. After complete drying and polymerization, the primer (putty) layer is completely safe and permitted for use in seamless polymer coating systems in public, residential, and industrial premises, including food production, catering enterprises, the pharmaceutical industry, agriculture, and in children’s and medical institutions.
When carrying out work, use personal protective equipment, avoid contact with eyes, respiratory tract, and skin. Keep away from fire.
