DEFENS AK.UR-03 (2K) Acrylic-urethane primer-enamel

Two-component high-gloss acrylic-urethane primer-enamel containing anti-corrosion additives. Provides high decorative and mechanical properties of the formed coating and a long service life.

Specifications

The ground enamel based on aliphatic polyisocyanate is designed for the protection and high-quality finishing of products made of metal, concrete, wood, and galvanized surfaces that operate in challenging climatic conditions. It is used as a standalone coating or as a high-quality finish on epoxy, zinc-silicate, polyurethane, and acrylic primers, or on pre-prepared metal according to ISO 8501-1, which improves the appearance and enhances the protective properties of coatings overall. It can be applied as a finish or intermediate layer in anti-corrosion protection systems according to ISO 12944-5:2018.

It is intended for painting metal and concrete with a long service life. It has increased adhesion to metal, concrete, and wooden surfaces, allowing it to be applied without prior priming of the treated surface.

It can be applied by air and airless spraying, as well as by roller and brush. Due to the low toxicity of the solvents contained in it, the ground enamel is convenient for application. It can be used as a primer, as a standalone coating, and as a finish in anti-corrosion protection systems for steel surfaces subjected to mechanical and chemical influences, as well as atmospheric effects in humid climates and industrial environments.

It is recommended for initial and repair painting with a long service life of rolling stock, automotive transport, agricultural machinery, painting bridges, steel and reinforced concrete structures, tanks, equipment in the chemical and petrochemical industries, port and waterfront facilities, marine and river vessels.

Coloring in any color at the request of the customer according to the RAL scale is possible. It can be produced in a modification with aluminum filler.

Requirements for the substrate

The metal surface must be dry, cleaned of rust, debris, dust, grease, and other contaminants that may act as separators. If necessary, treat the substrate by sandblasting or shot blasting to a degree of Sa 2-2.5 (ISO 8501-1:2007). After cleaning, the steel or galvanized surface must be dusted and degreased.

Previously painted surfaces that are suitable for repainting. Remove contaminants (e.g., grease and salts) that hinder. Surfaces must be dry and clean. Old surfaces with paint that has exceeded the maximum time for applying the next layer must be sanded to roughness. Damaged areas of the surface must be treated according to the substrate preparation and maintenance instructions. The place and time for the preliminary preparation of the surface for painting should be chosen so that the treated surface remains dry and clean until the next stage of painting the product begins.

Application

Before application, after mixing the components, the ground enamel must be thoroughly mixed for at least 5 minutes until a homogeneous consistency appears. Apply to the prepared substrate by air and airless spraying, with a brush, or roller. To obtain the material with the required working viscosity, the mixture solvent Defens may be added. When working with ground enamels in low-temperature conditions, it is recommended to use easily volatile solvents (ethyl acetate). The surface to be painted must be dry and have a temperature at least 3 °C above the dew point. The recommended number of layers is 1-2. Control the execution of work according to the standard ISO 12944-7:2017. The level of gloss and the final appearance of the coating depend on the method of application. Avoid, if possible, various methods of applying…paint.

Packaging and storage

Paint should be stored in a tightly closed container, protected from moisture and direct sunlight, away from heat sources, at a temperature between -20 and +30°C. The shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture without violating storage conditions. Minor separation may occur during prolonged storage, which does not affect the quality of the material.

Cleaning tools

Working tools and equipment should be rinsed with solvent R-4 immediately after use.

Safety measures

This product is intended for professional use only in industrial facilities in accordance with the recommendations provided here, as well as safety instructions provided to customers along with the containers containing the paint. All work, including the application and use of the product, must comply with health, safety, and environmental protection requirements, as well as all regional standards and instructions.

When carrying out painting work, use personal protective equipment, avoid contact with eyes, respiratory tract, and skin. Keep away from fire.
