DEFENS AL.ST-01 (1K) Alkyd-styrene ground enamel
Single-component fast-drying alkyd primer-enamel with anti-corrosive functional additives modified with styrene. Creates a uniform semi-gloss coating.
Specifications
Used as a protection and finishing treatment for products made of metal, concrete, wood, and galvanized surfaces, where a quick coating formation time is important.
Applied on pre-primed surfaces or as a standalone coating on structures exposed to environments with a medium degree of aggressiveness.
The formed coating is resistant to saltwater, mineral oils, and sunlight.
Also used for painting metal structures, transformation booths, containers for automotive transport, metal and reinforced concrete construction structures, as well as other objects operated in conditions of medium corrosion impact from the atmospheric environment.
The service life of the coating is at least 7 years, provided that the surface is properly prepared.
It can be applied by air and airless spraying methods, as well as with a roller and brush. Due to the low toxicity of the solvents contained in it, the primer-enamel is convenient for application. Coloring in any color at the request of the customer according to the RAL scale is possible.
Thanks to the presence of anti-corrosion additives, it provides high protective characteristics of the system with an excellent price/quality ratio.
Requirements for the substrate
The metal surface must be dry, cleaned of rust, debris, dust, grease, and other contaminants that may act as separators. If necessary, treat the substrate by sandblasting or shot blasting to a degree of Sa 2-2.5 (ISO 8501-1:2007). After cleaning, the steel or galvanized surface must be dusted and degreased.
Stone surfaces and those containing cement must be clean, dry (moisture – no more than 5%), free of traces of cement milk, dirt, oil, withstand design loads (compressive strength of at least 200 kgf/cm2), and not contain loose and adhered particles. If necessary, treat the substrate by sandblasting or shot blasting, milling, or grinding. After treatment, dust the surface and impregnate with DEFENS materials.
Previously painted surfaces suitable for repainting. Remove contaminants (e.g., grease and salts) that interfere. Surfaces must be dry and clean. Old surfaces with paint that has exceeded the maximum time for applying the next layer must be sanded to roughness. Damaged areas of the surface must be treated according to the substrate preparation and maintenance instructions. The place and time for the preliminary surface preparation for painting should be chosen so that the treated surface remains dry and clean until the next stage of painting the product begins.
Application
Before application, thoroughly mix the primer-enamel for at least 5 minutes until a homogeneous consistency appears. Apply to the prepared substrate by air and airless spraying, with a brush, or roller. To achieve the necessary working viscosity of the material, the addition of a mixing solvent (xylene) is possible. When working with primer-enamels in conditions of reduced temperatures, it is recommended to use easily volatile solvents (ethyl acetate). The surface to be painted must be dry and have a temperature at least 3 °C above the dew point. The recommended number of layers is 1-2. Carry out the work in accordance with the ISO 12944-7:2017 standard.
Packaging and storage
The paint is stored in tightly closed containers, protecting it from moisture and direct sunlight, away from heat sources, at a temperature from -20 to +30°C. The warranty storage period is 12 months from the date of manufacture without violating storage conditions. In the case of prolonged storage, the presence of…start sharing that does not affect the quality of the material.
Cleaning the tool
Working tools and equipment should be rinsed with solvent or xylene immediately after use.
Safety measures
This product is intended for professional use only in industrial facilities in accordance with the recommendations provided here, as well as the safety instructions provided to customers along with the containers containing the paint. All work, including the application and use of the product, must comply with health, safety, environmental protection requirements, and all regional standards and instructions.
When carrying out painting work, use personal protective equipment, avoid contact with eyes, respiratory tract, and skin. Keep away from fire.
