DEFENS PE-04 (2K) Water-based epoxy primer
Two-component epoxy vapor-permeable film-forming primer for concrete and other mineral substrates. Can be used as a standalone coating. Contains no organic solvents.
Specifications
The primer is used as a base mixture for concrete when creating thin-layer, monolithic, high-filled polyurethane and epoxy coatings in industrial, commercial, residential, and public buildings and structures, at transport infrastructure facilities, warehouses, terminals, parking lots, when installing insulation cladding for collectors, tanks, artificial reservoirs, etc.
It is designed for pre-priming surfaces before applying the finishing polymer coating. It is used for sealing and strengthening porous and weak substrates, preventing dust formation, ensuring reliable adhesion of the finishing polymer coating, especially on glossy or polished surfaces.
It is applied for priming concrete, screeds, plasters, colored and black metals, slate, tiles, bricks, artificial and natural stone, drywall, fiberboard, particleboard, plywood, and wood.
It is used for priming the screed before laying floor coverings (parquet, laminate, linoleum, etc.) and rolled waterproofing (PVC, EPDM, TPO, etc.).
Advantages and features of the material:
Easy-to-use water-soluble non-toxic material;
No harmful impact on the environment;
Increased abrasion resistance;
Exceptionally high adhesion and penetration ability to all substrates;
Possible application on damp and wet substrates;
Withstands negative hydrostatic pressure.
With the additional introduction of quartz sand or other mineral fillers, it is used for preparing putty, leveling, and repair polymer concrete mixtures.
Convenient to work with and a safe material for professional use.
Recommendations for use:
Requirements for the properties and preparation of the concrete substrate:
The properties of the concrete substrate and methods for preparing its surface must comply with current building and technical standards. The substrate must be strong, homogeneous, clean, dry, free from oils, fats, fragile areas, remnants of old peeling coatings, and other contaminants that hinder adhesion. The main requirements for the concrete substrate: compressive strength – at least 20 N/mm², tensile strength – at least 1.5 N/mm². Treat the concrete substrate using abrasive tools, shot blasting, milling, or grinding equipment. For concrete floors with a reinforced top layer, only shot blasting treatment is allowed. Carefully remove the dust generated during processing using an industrial vacuum cleaner.
Requirements for application conditions:
The temperature of the primer components, the surface of the substrate, and the surrounding air in the work area: from +10°C to +25°C.
Attention! The temperature of the substrate surface must be at least 3°C higher than the measured dew point both during the application of the primer and throughout the entire time required for the complete polymerization/drying of the primer layer. Relative humidity of the air: no more than 70%.
Method of application:
Pour the entire volume of components 1 and 2 into a mixing container of appropriate volume and mix thoroughly to a homogeneous state for 2-3 minutes. Use a low-speed (300-400 rpm) electric mixer for mixing the components.
DO NOT MIX COMPONENTS BY HAND!
Attention! Depending on the reactivity of the components, the curing process of the epoxy composition is accompanied by the release of a certain amount of heat. The “self-heating” of the mixture of epoxy composition components in the mixing container may provoke its premature curing. Therefore, it is strongly recommended not to leave the prepared mixture unattended.Components of the epoxy composition directly in the mixing container for an extended period.
Application methods: brush, roller.
Packaging and storage
The primer is supplied in airtight plastic containers. The set consists of two components (A, B), total weight — 10 kg; 20 kg. Store the primer in a tightly closed container, protecting it from moisture and direct sunlight, away from heat sources, at a temperature of +5 to +30°C. Do not freeze! The shelf life is 6 months from the date of manufacture without violating storage conditions.
Cleaning of tools
Working tools and equipment should be rinsed with water immediately after use. Cured mixture can only be removed mechanically.
Safety measures
Persons working with epoxy primer must be provided with personal protective equipment. All work should be carried out in rooms equipped with supply and exhaust ventilation. In case of contact with skin or eyes, rinse thoroughly with water and seek medical attention if necessary. After complete drying and polymerization, the primer (filler) layer is completely safe and allowed for use in seamless polymer coating systems in public, residential, and industrial premises, including food production, catering enterprises, pharmaceutical industry, agriculture, and in children’s and medical institutions.
When carrying out work, use personal protective equipment, avoid contact with eyes, respiratory tract, and skin. Keep away from fire.
